Taoglas, announced the expansion of its Comet Series with the MA58x family of compact screw- or through-hole mount puck antennas. Metal structures and flat surfaces can affect antenna performance by altering the electrical groundplane. The Comet MA58x Series is engineered to maintain stable operation in these conditions.

Standard LTE antennas rely on their RF cable for low-band efficiency, particularly when the cable is routed inside a metal enclosure, converting it into an unintended radiator. The MA58x design eliminates this dependency, enabling efficient radiation and delivering 20% improved performance compared to similar antennas.

With a 101 x 101mm footprint and 20mm profile, the antennas provide multi-antenna connectivity across 5G/4G MIMO, Wi-Fi 6/7, and GNSS constellations including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. RF design maintains consistent gain and efficiency across cellular frequencies from 600 MHz to 6 GHz and Wi-Fi bands up to 7.125 GHz, while supporting 2.4/5.8 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The weather-resistant housing uses Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA) for outdoor durability. The IP67-rated enclosure with screw/stud mount provides permanent installation for operation in vibration-prone environments such as fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and industrial automation.

The antennas are available in multiple configurations with black or white enclosures. Custom cable lengths and connector options are offered. The MA58x Series is suited for gateways and routers, public safety systems, point-of-sale terminals, digital signage, smart home automation, robotics, and industrial automation. The Comet Series also includes a magnetic mount MA32x variant.

Design principles are detailed in a Taoglas white paper.
